POSS/PDMS composite pervaporation membranes for furfural recovery

چکیده

In this work, polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) with two different functional groups, octa(nitrophenyl)silsesquioxane (ONPS) and octa(aminophenyl)silsesquioxane (OAPS), was incorporated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), forming composite membranes for furfural recovery via pervaporation process. The addition of POSS had enhanced the hydrophobicity PDMS improved affinity membranes. At same filler loading, OAPS/PDMS membrane showed a superior separation factor to bare ONPS/PDMS composite. effects OAPS loading on property performance were also investigated. at 15 wt% found be optimum value that could improve water contact angle 116° achieve over 20% improvement in both flux factor. provide 7-fold concentrated solution compared feed. newly developed great potential as alternative method energy-effectiveness low chemical footprint.
